Electronics for beginners - Light emitting diode, polarity and test
Light emitting diode for dummies is a tutorial about led polarity test and identification, finding the positive and negative legs of any led between 1.2v-9v. https://youtu.be/mabKoBAVvwM
For finding the positive and negative terminals on an LED we have to know how to perform a continuity test.

After we set the multimeter in continuity position we will take our probe and connected to the LED when is glowing or the multimeter beeps that means that the positive and negative terminals of the LED are the same with the terminals of the multimeter red is plus, and black is minus.
A light-emitting diode (LED) is a two-lead semiconductor light source. It is a p–n junction diode that emits light when activated. When a suitable voltage is applied to the leads, electrons are able to recombine with electron holes within the device, releasing energy in the form of photons. This effect is called electroluminescence, and the color of the light (corresponding to the energy of the photon) is determined by the energy band gap of the semiconductor. LEDs are typically small (less than 1 mm2) and integrated optical components may be used to shape the radiation pattern.
